
About Catherine
Catherine Ronan lives in West Cork and holds a degree in Applied Psychology and French. Writing poetry since childhood, she returned to UCC to study Creative Writing in 2019. Since then, she has joined multiple poetry collectives, performs on open mics, is a member of DeBarra’s Spoken Word Team and created her first Poetry Film ‘Policing Mary’. She won the Winter Solstice Poetry Competition and co-curated Bandon as Poetry Town for Poetry Ireland. She has been a featured poet at the Winter Warmer Poetry Festival, Words by the Water, Cork World Book Festival, Culture Night, Sling Slang, Lime Square Poets, Annie Mays and Only Your Footprints. Her work has been chosen for the Poetry in the Park and Poetry in Translation exhibitions. Published in Woman Scream, Ó Bhéal Five Words Anthologies , Cork Words 2, Swerve, Blue Mondays, Inside my 5km, Friendship Volume2, The World Transformed, The Opinion, Wexford Women Writing Undercover, Along the Path, Drawn to the Light Press and Long Island Sounds, New York. She was longlisted for Cúirt New Writing in 2023. She believes in the ancient Shamanic Principle that we are nature and everything is connected.
